Acute Hospitalizations – Via Marcona Office

Cardiology

Land heart disease-Cerebrovascular accidents continue to represent the leading cause of mortality in Italy, with more than 210.000 deaths in 2021 (31% of the total) and with a higher share among women than among men (56% vs. 44%)..

The weight of these numbers has always been well known to the cardiology department of the IGEA Nursing Home, which by virtue of its long tradition can both provideire The best cycle, in accordance with International Guidelines, both actively carry out prevention, continuing to follow the patient in their clinics even after hospitalisation.

The best care necessarily requires regular updates to our renowned state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, such as the world's first, most advanced low-radiation "cardio-CT" scanner, which we installed for the first time in 2009. This scanner is capable of "photographing" (in just a few seconds and in minute detail) the coronary arteries and identifying even the smallest atherosclerotic plaques, which are responsible for many diseases, including myocardial infarction.

Since then, in keeping with continuous technological innovation, that CT scan has been updated several times, up to the current latest SOMATOM FORCE model installed today.

Using a very low dose of radiation, the machine can calculate the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries (the "calcium score"), an important prognostic indicator for the development of future heart disease. Thousands of our patients have avoided serious heart problems thanks to this machine.

But progress is unstoppable; today, the test that allows us to study heart tissue down to the finest detail is Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CMR), the ultimate advancement in diagnostic accuracy. Our facility has a team of dedicated radiologists who use the latest CMR model, the MAGNETOM AERA SOLA.

The cardiology staffdi IGEA Nursing Home It treats the main heart diseases by providing you with the best therapies in accordance with international guidelines, such as:

  • Atrial fibrillation: complete non-invasive cardiac evaluation using color Doppler echocardiogram, Holter ECG, use of direct anticoagulants that do not require repeated blood sampling.
  • Ischemic heart disease: Patients who have had a heart attack require regular treatment and follow-up. This is why we have a dedicated team dedicated to post-heart attack care and the identification of any potential worsening or complications, both during hospitalization and in subsequent outpatient visits.
  • Arrhythmias and bradycardias: evaluation by serial Holter monitoring with pacemaker implantation (if necessary).
  • Heart failure: clinical and instrumental evaluation and pharmacological treatment in accordance with the most recent guidelines.
  • arterial hypertension: clinical, biochemical and instrumental evaluation, in order to identify possible causes of secondary hypertension, with a dedicated outpatient staff for subsequent periodic checks.

Only the best hospitals achieve the most important goals: our patients, who reward us with their loyalty, know this well, as do the inspectors of the UNI EN ISO 9001/2015 certification, an important international and independent recognition of quality standards, which Casa di Cura Igea has obtained for the entire facility, a source of pride for us and a stimulus to improve year after year.

Cardiologists are available to perform specialist visits in English.
