Il Department of General Surgery of the IGEA Nursing Home has 13 beds in bright single and double rooms equipped with air conditioning and all hotel comforts.

General Surgery Unit

THEGeneral Surgery Unit is a center of excellence for surgical treatment for various pathologies. Professionalism and the use of cutting-edge methodologies combine with patient-focused care to provide comprehensive healthcare.

Our multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and administrative staff are dedicated to supporting the patient, accompanying him in all phases of the surgical process: from first visit, intervention planning, up to post-surgical phase.

Let's apply a multidisciplinary approach, which integrates different specialist skills for a personalized care.

The range of interventions performed includes:

• endocrine surgery
• abdominal surgery
• surgical senology
• abdominal wall surgery
• proctological surgery

Endocrine Surgery

As regards the endocrine surgery, our UO is a SIUEC accredited center (Italian Society of Endocrine Surgery). We treat pathologies benign and malignant of thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.

Since 2016, for thyroid and parathyroid interventions, we have been using a advanced technology for continuous intra-operative monitoring of recurrent nerves, which provides real-time control of the nerves responsible for the movement of the vocal cords. This technology reduces values ​​close to zero il rischio di permanent paralysis of the vocal cords.

Abdominal Surgery

Another area of ​​specialization concerns interventions of abdominal surgery, performed with the more advanced techniques for both benign and oncological conditions. Interventions, always tailored to the patient's needs, may include:

• minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery
• traditional surgery

La minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery allows to minimize surgical trauma, offers faster recovery times, lower risk of complications and smaller scars.

Surgical Senology

Within the General Surgery Unit there is an active team specialized in senology, with particular attention to diagnosis and breast cancer treatment.

The activity includes:

• breast cancer surgery
• oncoplastic surgery which allows, where indicated, to combine tumor treatment with aesthetic reconstruction techniques

This approach allows to obtain results functional ed balanced aesthetics, supporting the patient both clinically is psychologically, thanks also to the use of current medical devices and the application of updated protocols.

Abdominal Wall Surgery

For the pathologies of the abdominal wall (inguinal, femoral, umbilical, laparocele, recurrent hernias, etc.), the IGEA Nursing Home team performs all the different types of operations available today, based on the patient's needs.

The following are carried out:

• traditional techniques of hernioplasty with mesh (sec. Lichtenstein, Trabucco, Wants, Rives)
• specifications minimally invasive / laparoscopic Advanced (TEP, TAPP)
