The patient who accesses our facility has the possibility of being visited by one of the fourteen ophthalmologists who, together with the two orthoptists, contribute to form our team.
Once the fundamental filter of the visit has been overcome, the patient can be directed towards the most complete and sophisticated instrumental diagnostics: topography, pachymetry and corneal biomicroscopy, computerized visual field examination, retinal and optic nerve imaging (OCT), fluorescence or indocyanine retinal angiography.
If laser therapy is deemed indicated, the patient can undergo the treatments necessary for his pathology (argon laser and yag laser).
Furthermore, it is possible to treat refractive defects (myopia-astigmatism-hyperopia and presbyopia) with excimer lasers (PRK and PTK).
In recent years, the ophthalmology department has been among the Milanese facilities that perform the highest number of cataract surgeries; it is also possible to undergo retinal detachment, glaucoma, corneal transplant and strabismus surgeries, which complete the service proposal currently provided both in day hospital and in hospital.
