Acute Hospitalizations – Via Marcona Office
Urology
THEUrology Operating Unit, directed by Dr. Paolo Consonni, carries out activities both in the field outpatient in that ordinary hospitalization and under regime Day surgery.
It takes care of prevention, diagnosis and treatment with diseases and disorders of the urinary tract and male genital system.
I diagnostic and therapeutic pathways they comply with the main National and European Guidelines, Including: Italian Society of Urology (SIU), Association of Italian Hospital Urologists (AUrO.it), European Association of Urology (EAU) e Italian Society of Urodynamics (SIUD).
THEurological team makes use of the most modern and minimally invasive technologies currently available in the urological field for the treatment of specific pathologies such as tumors of the urogenital system, benign prostatic hypertrophy, urinary stones, urinary incontinence, neurogenic bladder e urethral pathology.
The team has gained experience in the field of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of kidney tumors, as well as in the tendoscopic treatment of urinary stones, urinary incontinence and neurogenic bladder.
The Unit is also specialized in the methodology TULEP for the treatment ofbenign prostatic hypertrophy. The use of the thulium laser allows you to resolve the obstruction even in case of very large prostates, minimizing blood loss, pain e post-operative hospital stay times.
Diagnostic Procedures
Among the main diagnostic procedures performed are:
- Transrectal ultrasound-guided prostatic biopsies with cognitive fusion
- Flexible urethrocystoscopy
- Transrectal ultrasound of the prostate
- Scrotal ultrasound
- Uroflowmetry
- Urodynamic tests
Inpatient Activities
Diagnostic and therapeutic urological procedures are performed in both hospital and day surgery settings, planned based on the individual patient's clinical needs.
- Minor urological surgery (prostate biopsies, circumcision, scrotal surgery)
- Andrological surgery (varicocele correction, penile recurvatum correction, etc.)
- Urethral surgery (endoscopic urethrotomy, urethroplasty, etc.)
- Endoscopic oncological surgery (bladder and urinary tract tumors)
- Laparoscopic oncological surgery (kidney tumors)
- Open oncological surgery for neoplasms of the kidney and excretory tract, neoplasms of the bladder (cystectomy) and prostate (radical prostatectomy)
- Minimally invasive treatment of urge urinary incontinence (detrusor injection of botulinum toxin)
- Surgery for overactive neurogenic bladder and idiopathic urinary retention with sacral neuromodulator implantation
- Minimally invasive endoscopic surgery for urinary stones (ureterorenoscopy and retrograde endorenal surgery with laser lithotripsy), percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL)
- Minimally invasive endoscopic surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia with conventional energy (RADISH e Bipolar TUIP) to laser (TULEP) even for very large prostates.
- Open surgery for large prostatic hypertrophy in selected cases (transvesical adenomectomy and retropubic prostatectomy)
