Acute Hospitalizations – Via Marcona Office
Urology
The goal of the urology department of the Casa di Cura Igea is to optimize endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery techniques to increase the number of those able to benefit from the so-called "one-day surgery".

The resources saved, for example in terms of beds, can thus be used for medium and major urological surgery in elderly patients.
The urological surgical patient is in fact increasingly a geriatric patient who requires longer pre- and post-operative times to obtain the best therapeutic result and to benefit from a protected convalescence in a hospital environment. The urological team of the Casa di Cura Igea has also created uro-gynecological and uro-oncological outpatient clinics and diagnostic pathways.
The Urology unit, which has 10 beds, performs various surgical and endoscopic procedures:
- Minimally invasive endoscopic and holmium laser therapy of upper urinary tract diseases: stones, stenosis and low-grade neoplasms.
- Open, endoscopic surgical therapy with Thulium laser and bipolar resector for benign prostate growth (prostatic hypertrophy).
- Endoscopic therapy of superficial bladder tumors using Thulium laser and bipolar resectors.
- Combined surgical and oncological therapies aimed at bladder preservation in selected cases of infiltrating bladder tumors.
- Destructive and reconstructive surgical therapy in muscle-invasive bladder tumors.
- Endoscopic therapy of urethral strictures (narrowing).
- Surgical therapy of neoplasms of the kidney, prostate, testicles and penis.
- Treatment of renoureteral and bladder stones.
- Treatments of urination dysfunction and vesicourethral dysfunction in men and women.
- Minimally invasive treatment of male and female urinary incontinence.
- Diagnosis and treatment of impotence and male genital pathologies.
