The General Surgery Department of the IGEA Nursing Home has 13 beds in bright single and double rooms equipped with air conditioning and all the comforts of a hotel.

General Surgery Unit

The General Surgery Unit is a center of excellence for the surgical treatment of various conditions. Professionalism and the use of cutting-edge methodologies combine with patient-focused care to provide comprehensive healthcare.

Our multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and administrative staff is dedicated to supporting the patient, accompanying him/her through all phases of the surgical process: from the first visit , to planning the operation , up to the post-surgical phase.

We apply a multidisciplinary approach , which integrates different specialist skills for personalized care.

The range of interventions performed includes:

  • endocrine surgery
  • abdominal surgery
  • surgical senology
  • abdominal wall surgery
  • proctological surgery

Endocrine Surgery

Regarding endocrine surgery , our unit is an SIUEC (Italian Society of Endocrine Surgery) accredited center . We treat benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid , parathyroids , and adrenal glands.

Since 2016, for thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, we have been using advanced technology for continuous intraoperative monitoring of recurrent nerves, which ensures real-time control of the nerves responsible for vocal cord movement. This technology reduces the risk of permanent vocal cord paralysis to nearly zero.

Abdominal Surgery

Another area of ​​specialization involves abdominal surgery , performed with the most advanced techniques for both benign and oncological conditions. The procedures, always tailored to the patient's needs, may include:

  • minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery
  • traditional surgery

Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery minimizes surgical trauma, offers faster recovery times , lower risks of complications, and smaller scars.

Surgical Senology

Within the General Surgery Unit, there is an active team specialized in senology , with particular attention to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

The activity includes:

  • breast cancer surgery
  • oncoplastic surgery which allows, where indicated, to combine tumor treatment with aesthetic reconstruction techniques

This approach allows for balanced functional and aesthetic results , supporting the patient both clinically and psychologically , thanks also to the use of current medical devices and the application of updated protocols.

Abdominal Wall Surgery

For abdominal wall conditions (inguinal, femoral, umbilical, laparocele, recurrent hernias, etc.), the IGEA Clinic team performs all the different types of procedures available today, based on the patient's needs.

The following are carried out:

  • traditional techniques of hernioplasty with mesh (sec. Lichtenstein, Trabucco, Wants, Rives)
  • specifications minimally invasive / laparoscopic Advanced (TEP, TAPP)
